Pru Clayton-Mead

Pru (Priscilla) Clayton-Mead has been riding for more years than she cares to remember, starting on a pony at the age of 3. After changing career in her late 30s she qualified as a BHSII training with Di Belton, Sue Payne & Danny Pevsner. After this she ran her own small riding school and livery yard in Cambridgeshire before moving to Suffolk. While in Suffolk she had the good fortune to meet Heather Moffett and this changed her way of riding and altered her approach to teaching. Pru was one of Heather’s first approved teachers. She continued to teach freelance and to run her livery yard in Suffolk where she had her own Trakheners including a stallion, which she schooled from backing. She developed her teaching and riding following classical principles and studied Monty Robers and Tellington Touch methods as she worked with her own horses. Now in the Alentejo region, she continues with these aspects helping riders and horses to bond and understand each other in a calm and empathetic way from beginner to advanced levels. She holds an International Teaching Passport equivalent to Monitor in Portugal.

Julian Mead

Julian Mead is relatively new to horses having come from the world of logistics. He moved to Portugal with Pru in 2004 and has helped with the horses since then, learning to ride, but specialising in transporting horses. He passed his International Horse Transportation exams in the UK and drives the HGV lorry himself. He also runs the business side of the yard and rather than riding horses spends hours on the tractor or fork lift maintaining everything to a very high standard.

Emma Fripp

Emma Fripp has her own horses and a wealth of experience in the care of horses. She recently sold the pony she had and so her two other horses are here on the yard. Nutmeg who is 20 this year and her son, Piper whose work is developing very well both on the flat and jumping. Emma lives locally with her family and works on the yard 5 morning per week, helping school and exercise the horses and taking out rides. She is excellent with the children too.
