Length of Holiday

You are welcome to stay for as long as you like! But normally we offer 3 & 5 day courses although your holiday can be extended in local accommodation. Below is an outline of what you can expect, although all courses are tailored to suit individual needs.

 

5 Day Course

This will normally include 15 hours of tuition, made up of 10 x 1 hour lessons and 5 hours of demonstrations and/or practical experience in lungeing, long-reining and in-hand work. Light lunch on the yard is also included.

Course cost: Eur 350.00 excluding accommodation and flights

If you prefer to ride in the mornings and have the afternoons off to sightsee, swim and relax in your accommodation (especially suitable for beginners or holidaymakers here with their families) then we offer a less intensive training course with 2 x 1/2 hour or 1 x 1 hour lessons per day, plus horse handling practice.

Course cost: Eur 250.00 excluding accommodation and flights

It is always possible to purchase extra riding lessons or hacks while you are here.

Trekking Holiday

The countryside here is beautiful, unspoilt, and with the Alentejo being the largest region of Portugal with the least population, it allows for kilometres of uninterrupted riding on tracks and land. Even on the local roads it is rare that we see a car while out riding! These holidays will include 15 hours of riding in a 5 day period and will be made up of both short and longer sessions so that you can explore different areas. They include lunch and refreshments each day and a BBQ or meal one evening.

Holiday cost: Eur 410.00 excluding accommodation and flights

3 Day Course or Short Trekking Holiday

Based on the 5 day courses, or on the trekking holidays these are just proportionately reduced for those wanting to spend some time on a riding holiday and some time in Portugal doing other things, maybe with their families.

Course cost: Eur 210.00; Holiday cost: Eur 246.00 excluding accommodation and flights

Accommodation

Camping at a Dutch camping site within 3 kms. From Eur 15.50 per night

Local residencial (like a motel) in Ourique. 8 kms. Eur 25-45 per room

Local excellent B&B with option of dinner. 7 kms. Eur 50 per room

Self-catering at a choice of venues 6-20 kms. Prices vary.
